You don't choose where you are born, what family you start with, or what opportunities appear first. From there, the rest is yours to influence.

Go through school, choose your education, apply for jobs, build relationships, manage money, buy a home, start businesses, raise a family, deal with setbacks, and adapt to a world that keeps changing around you.

Choiceborn is still being built behind the scenes.

The page is live, the game is not — yet. Downloads are currently disabled while the first public playable demo is being built and polished.

The systems shown and described below are based on the current Choiceborn Alpha development build.

Choiceborn includes routes through secondary education and further study, including VMBO, HAVO, VWO, MBO, HBO and university-level paths.

Depending on your route, you may deal with:

Preferred education requirements don't always create a hard barrier. You may still apply for a position above your formal qualification level — but your chances of getting hired may be lower.

The people in your life are designed to become more than temporary names on a screen.

Friends, partners, family members, coworkers, mentors, teachers and professors can persist throughout your story.

Relationships can build memories based on things such as:

Conversations depend on context and the type of relationship. NPCs can also initiate contact themselves instead of always waiting for you to make the first move.

Family can outlive a single character

Choiceborn includes a family system that can continue beyond one lifetime.

Build relationships, have children, discover extended family, inherit assets and watch younger generations develop lives of their own.

Family members may not all be visible immediately. Conversations, relationships and research can reveal new branches of your family tree.

When your character eventually dies, an adult child may allow the story to continue into the next generation.

More routine actions are automated so you can focus mainly on major decisions.

Standard

The important decisions stay in your hands while smaller details remain manageable.

Deep

Maximum manual control with more individual actions and decisions.

Custom

Mix different depth settings across individual systems.

For example, you could play with deep education and career management while keeping another system more automated.

The Hall of Lives can preserve the history of your previous characters and generations.

Current development build

Choiceborn is currently in Alpha development.

The current development foundation includes hundreds of event definitions and interconnected systems covering education, careers, relationships, family, money, housing, investing, health, business, world simulation and multi-generational play.

The game is being developed as an offline-first experience using local saves.

There are currently no forced advertisements and no subscription requirement planned into the present alpha architecture.

Public demo

The first public demo is not available yet.

This itch.io page is already live so development can be followed before downloads open.

Downloads will be enabled once the first public demo is ready for players.
